Examine the thatch on the nearby Colin O’Riordan building, then use real reed bundles, thatching irons, leggets and hammers to thatch part of a small roof. Learn traditional thatching skills – then put them to the test! Children can choose to stand underneath their roof as we test it with a bucket of water.

This activity is great for building teamwork, and it is a fantastic opportunity to try a traditional Norfolk craft. It fits well with a visit to Toad Hole Cottage museum, and a marsh/river trip.
