Adult Breaks 2022

Spring Birds     Friday May 27th – Monday 30th May

Cost: £495 per person or £790 for 2 people sharing a room.

We are delighted that renowned ornithologist Sue Delve will be leading this course. Almost all of the summer migrants will have arrived by now, and this break will seek to identify a wide range of species, both by sight and call. Price includes full board accommodation, entrance fees, transport whilst at How Hill and evening talks.

 This weekend is aimed at beginners but all are welcome.    

Gardens of East Norfolk   Wed 1st – Sat 4th June

Cost: £495 per person or £790 for 2 people sharing a room.

We will visit a diverse selection of unique and interesting gardens, most rarely open to the public. There will be guided tours by the owners at some gardens and of course there will be plenty of refreshments at each garden!  Price includes full board accommodation, entrance fees, transport whilst at How Hill and specialist evening speakers.

Swallowtail weekend   Fri 17th – Sun 19th June                                                  

Cost: £375 per person or £600 for 2 people sharing a room.

How Hill is an ideal location to see our largest, and one of our rarest, butterfly. 

We will explore the reed beds of How

 

Hill and travel by boat to the Butterfly Conservation reserve at Catfield Fen. Here we will meet the honorary warden, Dr Keith Bacon, who will lead a guided tour of the area. Price includes full board accommodation, entrance fees, transport whilst at How Hill and specialist evening speakers                                                                                                     

 

Broadland Heritage   Mon 1st – Thurs 4th Aug

Cost: £495 per person or £790 for 2 people sharing a room.

A relaxing opportunity to explore the heritage of How Hill House, the estate and formal gardens and this part of the Norfolk Broads. We will also have a sail on the iconic pleasure wherry Hathor, and learn about its connection with How Hill. Price includes full board accommodation, entrance fees, transport whilst at How Hill and specialist evening speakers.

Introduction to Broadland Plants (1) Mon 8th – Wed 10th August

Cost: £375 per person or £600 for 2 people sharing a room.

An opportunity to learn how to identify some of the wonderful plants to be found in the Broads. We will be visiting parts of the How Hill estate, such as reed and sedge beds, that are usually very difficult to access. This course is led by Mike Crewe, who has had over 25 years of experience in leading natural history trips all over the world. This is a great introduction to the world of Broadland flora. Price includes full board accommodation, transport whilst at How Hill and evening talks.

Wherry Experience   Mon 5th – Fri 9th Sept

Cost: £620 per person or £990 for 2 people sharing a room.

In partnership with Wherry Yacht Charter, this is truly an opportunity not to be missed.  You will be able to sail on both a pleasure wherry and a wherry yacht, with three days of sailing. You can get involved with all aspects of crewing including raising the sail and quanting, or just sit back and relax.  Everyone will have the opportunity to take the helm on Barton Broad giving an unforgettable opportunity to sail one of these magnificent Edwardian vessels that are so much part of the Broadland history and heritage.  

The price includes full board accommodation, all sailings and illustrated evening talks.

Introduction to Broadland Plants (2) Fri 9th Sept – Sun 11th Sept

This is a repeat of the Plant course held in August, but there will be the opportunity to discover different plants in different habitats. Learn how to identify some of the wonderful plants to be found in the Broads. We will be visiting parts of the How Hill estate that are usually very difficult to access. Autumn Birds   Fri 16th – Sun 18th Sept

Just like the Spring Birds course, we will be joined by Sue Delve for this weekend. The autumn migration will be well underway and who knows what we may see? A relaxing but informative introduction to the birds of east Norfolk during this exciting time of the year. Walking in Broadland   Fri 14th – Sun 16th Oct

Cost: £375 per person or £600 for 2 people sharing a room.

Get out and about in the peaceful Broads. Walks will be approximately 5 – 6 miles and be on level (though perhaps rather muddy) terrain. Price includes full board accommodation, a boat trip together with evening talks. An ideal opportunity to relax, meet new friends and explore this part of the Norfolk Broads.
